Ze Book Cover part 2 - Monday Class

Well, my Quilty Friends, I've finally managed to get Ze Book Cover part 2 Video uploaded.
Actually the problem wasn't uploading it - it was making it.
You know the kind of thing when the world seems against you.
Take 1, I got confussed (mouth and brain not in sinc)
Take 2, managed to focus the camera on thin air - not very interesting that video
Take 3, I should have known it was getting too dark to film grrrr
Next day
Take 4, battery ran out half way thru filming.
Take 5, phone rings half way thru.
I did a quick excuse me and pause.
So this weeks video is Take 5
And here is a picture of a few of the finished Book covers that some of our 'Actual' Monday ladies brought in yesterday. More to follow next week.

Monday Class - Book Cover

Hello there my Quilty Friends,

In this weeks Monday Class I showed our members how to make a fabric book cover. And today I'm posting the first part of a two part video I have made showing you all how to make the fabric book covers.

But firstly I want to show you how Joan's logcabin heart quilt is coming along.
Anyone else still working on their logcabin quilts?

Don't you think it's absolutely stunning?

Now back to the book covers.
I showed Monday Class the first part of how to make the book covers last week
and lots of them brought in their 'work in progress' this week.
Silly me
I didn't think to take any pictures of their work.
I'll have to rectify that next week.

So you'll have to make do with a picture of my book covers at the moment
The one on the left I'm calling a 'Patchwork Book Cover'
And the one on the right I'm calling a 'Wholecloth Book Cover'
Both quick and easy to make and ideal little Christmas Pressies.

I did, however, manage to get around to making a video of how to make the book covers.
This is part one of two videos
Hope you enjoy.

Is it Kickback Friday already!

Hello there my Quilty Friends, you know the saying 'make hay while the sun shines'.
Well the sun has been shining here in Wales. It's kind of warm for this time of year (and dry).
I have a confession to make - Instead of staying in to make the bookcover videos, I took my dog Daisy down to the beach this morning.
It was quite exciting as dogs are only allowed on the main beach after 30th September. So it was Daisy's first visit to the main beach this morning.
And as you can see she enjoyed.
The pink thing around her neck is a frizbe.
She hasn't got the hang of playing with the frizbe yet.
I threw it, turned my camera on and she was running back to me
with the frizbe around her neck - not sure how she did that!
Enjoying a little paddle.

I had meant to video this afternoon, but.......

We fell asleep.
And as Daisy had fallen asleep on my legs
I couldn't disturb her - could I.

A quick little message to any 'Actual' Monday class readers from Jean....
'Can you bring in the remainder of your Cowbridge money next Monday please.'

Last week I bought myself the new Jack Johnson CD From Here To Now - I'm loving it so here is a track
'You Remind Me of You'

Monday Group - Patchwork Book Cover

Hello there my Quilty Friends,

The sun is shining, my toe is 'quite' happy and my ch ch changes are coming along nicely.

And in Monday class we started on the Patchwork Book Covers.

I'm hoping to get a video up soon on how I made the book cover.
I can't blame my toe entirely for not getting the video made.
I have spent a little time in my workroom both yesterday and today.
I was sidetracked by the ideas in my head and I've been working on another version of the book cover
Also practicing a new technique and idea that is part of my ch ch changes.

But for now you'll have to be content with a couple of pictures of the work in progress on the Book Covers.
These first two pictures are of the original Patchwork Book Cover
And yesterday in 'actual class', I showed as far as getting to use your sewing machine's fancy stitches
Then yesterday afternoon I felt the need to try a 'Wholecloth' book cover.
The 'wholecloth' being a piece of Deborah O'hare's wonderful painted fabric.
This is a work in progress at the moment.
I have further plans for this piece.

There'll be no more stitching or any videoing for me today as I'm off to see Buddy in the Grand Theatre Swansea tonight.

But I promise I'll work on the Patchwork Book Cover over the next few days so you can all have a go soon.

My left toe, Facebook pages, and Kickback Friday

Well my Quilty Friends, it seems that I have managed to re-break my little toe.
And within feet of the original toe breaking incident too!

This isn't one of the ch ch changes I was talking about last week.
Suffice to say it's put a stop to my stitching antics this week.
I've had to re-think todays post.
And as I have had some time to sit and browse the web. I thought I'd share with you some Facebook pages.
They are a bit different to blogs and often people have a blog AND a facebook page. (As I do)

I've put below some links to a few 'quilty' facebook pages, including mine of course.

And for any of you new to facebook or if you just don't know. I'd like to tell you a little about
likes and shares and what are they.

When you click on "Like" you are just expressing that you liked this particular post, status, picture or anything.
With "Share", you share it (publishing it on your profile)  because you think this is interesting and your facebook friends may like to see it too.

So, click on the pink links and enjoy.

Today's music video - well, with a little wink to my left toe...

A fun montage of pictures, I love the horse, but I don't think I should try the bouncing shoes.

Things they are a changing - Kickback Friday

Hello there my Quilty Friends, here we are again - another week over and the weekend just beginning.

It's been a funny old few weeks for me - things they are a changing - I can feel it in my bones.
By way of a change today there are no pictures - just words.

My Patchwork World is changing....not big changes but lots of little ones in all different areas of my Quilty World - Sew - the question is - Am I changing? Or, is the Quilty World around me changing.

Ch ch ch ch ch change.

Do you ever feel um.....things need a bit of a shake up, a bit of a change. You could call it growth.
Although at the time it may feel a bit uncomfortable. You know deep down it needs doing.
You need time, you need to gather the energy, the inspiration.
You need to focus and at the same time you need space, distance, a little bit of me time.
Sounds a bit deep, a bit scary but bit by bit one step at a time you need change.

I know the process has begun.
I've made a few little steps, just a small movement in another direction.
But there is a lot more to do.  It will, I hope improve my little Quilty World, especially my on-line little Quilty World.

And so, my upcoming trip to see my sister has fallen just at the right time.

Ch ch ch ch ch change, turn and face the strain.

I'm going to spend a few days just eating, drinking and laughing - I may even get a little bit hysterical - I think the hysterical bit has already started!
I need a good clearout, a reboot - out with the old and in with the new.

There will be no Monday Class post next week.

The music video I've chosen to share with you this week is a song that has been going around inside my head for days now.
Changes by David Bowie.......ch ch ch ch ch change, turn and face the strain ch ch ch ch change.......

Well, that's all from me today folks,
Yours in Stitches, J J J J Joy
