Size 5.5 Hook

DK Yarn Two Strands Worked Together

I'm using King Cole Glitz - Diamond White

How I make a Large Crochet Snowflake

I Like to start with a Magic Circle

My Magic Circle with Round 1 Stitched

(or you can use a 4 or 5 Chain start slip stitched together to create a circle)

Either Or is Fine

Make First Chain of Magic Circle tight to start off

Round One

Chain five (this represents 1 Treble and 2 Chains)

*Into the Circle make one Treble then Two Chains*

Next

Repeat from * to * Four more times pull your Magic Circle tight from centre.

Then slip stitch to 3rd chain of the five Chains at beginning of round.

Crochet Snowflake Round 1 complete

(Round one should have 6 Trebles and 6 Two Chain Spaces as pic above)

Round 2

Slip stitch into first two chain space

Chain four (this creates the first stitch)

Into same two chain space Work three more Trebles then end with two chains.

*Into next two chain space work

Four Trebles end with Two Chains*

Repeat from  * to * 4 more times into remaining 4 two chain spaces.

Finish round with slip stitch into 3rd chain from beginning of round.

Crochet Snowflake round 2

(You will now have 6 Four Treble clusters and 6 Two Chain spaces as pic above)

Round 3

Slip stitch into top of 2nd  and 3rd treble and then

*Slip stitch into two chain space.

Work into 2 chain space to create snowflake points:

Four Chains - then slip stitch back into two chain space

Six Chains - then slip stitch back into two chain space

Eight Chains - then slip stitch back into two chain space

Six Chains - then slip stitch back  into two chain space

Four Chains - then slip stitch back into two chain space

Slip stitch into top of 2nd and 3rd Treble of four treble Cluster (these slip stitches helps you travel from last two chain space to next two chain space)*

(You have now created one Snowflake point see pic below)

Repeat from * to * five times to complete Round Three (Six Snowflake 'points')

Slip Stitch to top of 2nd Treble to Complete Your Snowflake see below.

Then Chain 22 (or desired Chain length)
Slip Stitch back into 3rd Treble
Cut Yarn

Phew!

Now I've completed the instructions for the Small, Medium and Large Crochet Snowflake (which took far longer to write than it took to Make the Snowflakes!)

Crochet Snowflakes

Give them a go.
Let me know how you get on
Just thinking - would they good in different colours.....

I've just got a new Mini Camera stand for filming close work. I may try it out making the Small Snowflake.
Would that be something you'd like to see?

Meanwhile, Enjoy your Stitching whatever form it takes.
